Going back to their roots
Grants
of between £5,000 and £25,000 are available for projects which
involve young people in the heritage of the UK.
Young Roots is a new Heritage Lottery Fund scheme in partnership
with the National Youth Agency. It aims to get young people actively involved
in exploring and celebrating their heritage.
Grants are aimed at organisations that
already work with young people and they will fund projects that will last
for up to 18 months. To qualify for a grant your project must:
- involve young people aged between 13 and 20;
- relate to the varied heritage of the UK; and
- be delivered through partnership working. The fund prioritises
partnerships led by youth organisations. Non-heritage youth organisations
should show a partnership with at least one heritage organisation.
The next deadline is 1st April
2004; after that it will operate on a rolling programme, so there are
no set deadlines.
