Connexions Derbyshire and Derby City Council Youth
Service
Connexions
Derbyshire was launched in 2002 and is a Government support service
for all young people aged 13 to 19, which aims to provide advice, guidance
and access to personal development opportunities. Through partnership
working it brings together all the services that help young people and
gives them access to a Personal Adviser.
One of the ways Connexions Derbyshire makes a commitment
to working with the voluntary and community sector is by providing funding
for youth centred projects, which complement the Connexions Derbyshire
work plan in achieving its targets set by Government.
Connexions is about helping young people navigate their
way through decisions about studying, jobs and careers. It's about helping
young people get the personal development opportunities they need to fulfil
their potential and become the active citizens of tomorrow. It's also
about helping those who have problems with drugs, alcohol, depression,
are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Derby City Council Youth Service aims to contribute
to the personal development of young people aged 12 to 25,
within the context of a multi-racial society. In working towards this
aim, youth workers have three key priorities:
- supporting young people's social and educational development;
- giving young people an influential voice; and
- ensuring young people participate positively in society
as active citizens.
The service supports the voluntary sector, by offering the
opportunity for voluntary groups to utilise their premises and many local
groups have taken up this offer.
