Coffee morning at the Mayor's Parlour

The first day in June 2004 played host to the 15th annual coffee morning at the Mayor's Parlour. The event was very well attended with around 80 volunteers representing a wide and diverse cross section of a vibrant voluntary sector.

Richard Jones of the CVS Management Board introduced the Mayor who went on to thank all the volunteers and emphasised the importance of their work for the community and the economy. He also singled out Ken McLoughlin for his continued and dedicated work in the CVS Volunteer Bureau.

The Mayor went on to highlight the importance of encouraging younger people to become the 'next generation' of volunteers.

The success of this annual coffee morning demonstrates the good relationship with the local authority. The 1st June is a prioritised event and the Mayor always ensures he attends; understanding the importance of meeting volunteers personally.

There was plenty of positive feedback from the voluntary representatives who appreciated the event and the CVS for its organisation of the day.
