Connexions Role Models

Connexions Derbyshire needs to collect some role models as part of our responsibility as a member of the Gender and Race Inclusion Project (GERI). We have been able to collect some already but the list of suggestions has dried up lately. I would be grateful if, during your work you come across young people (or older people you feel would inspire young people) who have gone down career paths which oppose generally held views/stereotypes as 'for boys' or 'for girls', or a path trail-blazed by sections of the community previously under-represented, you would let me know. They can be people in full-time education, on apprenticeships or work-based learning or in employment.
If you would like to see some of the role model interviews (there are about 80 now) and photographs which have been collected by the project log onto:
www.geriproject.org and go to GERI for teachers>role models>view role model list. Jobs include: care worker, civil engineer, DIY instructor, fire-fighter, joiner, painter and decorator, police sergeant, systems analyst and hospital theatre nurse.
The GERI project also produce other resources which can be viewed on their website. We stock all the modules of the 'Job Choice: do gender and race matter?' which have been produced so far in the staff resources library at Godkin House. You can, of course, borrow these.
If you discover any suitable role models could you call me with details please so that I can make arrangements to interview and photograph them?
Thank you.
