Derby CVS and local voluntary and community organisations
can only achieve our aims if we form strong partnerships to work with
other bodies in improving the quality of life for people and communities
in Derby. Our Policy and Communications team finds and delivers new and
effective ways to develop the collective voice, influence and resources
of local voluntary and community organisations.
Working in partnership is becoming more and more important in order for voluntary and community organisations, and Derby CVS, to achieve their aims. The Policy and Communications team finds and delivers new and effective ways to develop the collectivevoice, influence and resources of local voluntary and community organisations.
Key activities are:
- Enabling the sector to have a voice and be able to influence decision making at Derby City Partnership (Derby’s Local Strategic Partnership) through Derby Community Network.
- Building on the sector’s relationship with Derby City Council by progressing work on the Derby Compact.
- Keeping local groups informed on health and social care issues and developments at the Health and Social Care Forum.
- Keeping local groups up to date with local, regional and national policy developments at the Policy Forum.
- Representing the broad interests of voluntary and community organisations on the wide range of local partnerships, often through specific consultation forums serviced by CVS.
- Letting organisations know about new policy initiatives and developments, including through Network News and this website.
- Providing free ICT (Information, Communication and Technology) support and advice to organisations in four of the Objective 2 wards in the City.
- Organising effective consultations on important issues.
