Training
day proves to be a success
When
several beneficiaries on the Starlink Central project expressed an interest
in doing some training, Project Co-ordinator Margaret Thompson organised
a Basic Food Hygiene course.
Despite taking place on a cold, wet Monday in December everyone
turned up, keen to get started.
The morning was taken up with going through the theory,
which included pest control and personal hygiene. Small group discussions
helped everyone feel more relaxed and gave them the confidence to participate
fully.
After lunch tutor Kath Lougher talked to them about the
risk of contamination, before recapping on all the topics that she had
covered during the day. After a short break the beneficiaries started
their test. Twenty minutes later it was all over. Kath told everyone that
they'd find out the results from the test in about six weeks.
And in January, the beneficiaries received the good news
that they'd all passed! Everyone was delighted with the result and is
already looking forward to the next training day!
