Millennium Volunteers: claiming expenses

As a volunteer, we don't expect you to lose out financially. We can give you money to cover anything you need to pay for while you're volunteering.

What will we provide expenses for?

  • The cost of travelling to, from and during your voluntary work.
  • Assistance with the cost of any special equipment or protective clothing you need - for example if you're working on an environmental project you may need some wellies!
  • The cost of meals taken during the period of volunteering if you do more than 4 hours at a time.
  • Assistance with the cost of care for dependants (children / older relatives) during your volunteering.
  • Assistance with the cost of materials, resources and entrance fees paid for during the voluntary activity, for example if you took some children out and bought them a drink.

How do you claim them?
If possible you should keep hold of any receipts or tickets so you can work out how much we owe you. You need to fill in an Expenses Form and return it to us with the receipts and tickets (we need these for our financial records). We'll then send you the money by cheque or if you need cash you can come in and collect it.

Still confused?
If you have any questions about what you can claim for or how to do it please call us on 01332 342272.
