Derby CVS runs a Volunteer Bureau which provides a
variety of services:
- The Millennium Volunteers (MV)
programme, funded by the Department for Education & Employment (DfEE),
encourages and supports young people from 16 to 24 to volunteer their
time and efforts for the benefit of others. If you're aged between 16
and 24 why not become a Millennium Volunteer - check out the extra benefits
here.
- In any one year, more than 300 volunteers
of all ages and backgrounds are interviewed for volunteer placements
with local organisations. Volunteering is a great way to get experience,
fill a few spare hours, meet new people and develop some new skills.
Do you want to become a volunteer? We can help you find the voluntary
work that suits you. Come in and chat with our Volunteer
Organiser, Justina Nurse call 01332 342272 to arrange a time.
- As a volunteer you can get training.
Organisations will train you in the specific role you plan to take;
you may even be able to get accreditation such as an NVQ or an OCN qualification.
You can also attend general volunteering training at the Volunteer Bureau.
The volunteers training covers roles and responsibilities, confidence
building and health and safety. For more information or to enquire about
places contact Derby CVS on 01332 346266. We also run various training
courses on a variety of subjects click here
for more information.
- As part of our annual Christmas
meals appeal, volunteers deliver meals on Christmas day to older
people living alone in the community.
If you want to know more, please get
in touch with the Volunteer Bureau Manager.
